The collection consists of materials relating to American novelist Pat Conroy from 1988-1990. The collection includes screenplays, source material, and notes by Pat Conroy and Wendell Rawls, for their screenplay "Above the Fold," about Bill Kovach, who was dismissed from the staff of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The collection also includes a typescript and manuscript drafts of the screenplay "Ex," written by Conroy and Doug Marlette.

Cartoonist and author, Doug Marlette (1949- ), of Hillsborough, N.C., created the nationally syndicated comic strip "Kudzu" in May 1981. His political cartoons and other work has appeared in major newspapers and news magazines.
